Eleven of eager AHG wildflower lovers converged on the flank of Upper Table Rock on warm spring morning. I was a little worried about the what we would find, but Upper Table delivered! THOUSANDS of Henderson's Fawn Lillies and our own Southern Oregon buttercups with their blushing red petal undersides carpeted the slopes. As we slowly made our way up the volcanic plateau, we identified 40 species of flowering plants, shrubs and trees, including fan favorites like Scarlett fritillary/Red bells, Grass widows and Pussy ears.
Thanks to Eva and Ron, who led us to their fast-disappearing lair, we also saw the rare (as in only found on our Table Rocks), Dwarf wooly meadow foam. We then sought shade for a well-earned lunch before heading back down and home.
A special thanks to you WWs who helped make the Siskiyou Mountain Club wildflower walk the next day a success!
